Achara/atsara (pickled papaya) is the Philippine contribution to the world of Asian pickles. In the Philippines we usually get it free when we buy roasted pig. When I arrive here in the US I was very happy when I found a green papaya at the store. I ask my husband to buy it for me because I want to make a Filipino version of pickles. The first time I tried to make it, was a complete disappointment for me because it didn’t turn out exactly what I want, So I end up Throwing it away. But I did not give up and decided to try making it for the second time, and I really made sure that I follow the exact recipe. Gladly it turn out really good and my husband loves it too.
I found the picture in flicker and while looking at this picture makes me want to have some right now, but thats impossible because I don’t have any ingredients to make it. I hope I will be able to find a green papaya in the store this weekend cause I wanted to make this kind of appetizer again. And it has been a while since I had it.
